Astigmatism
Astigmatism is due to differing curvatures on the front of the eye (cornea) or the lens (inside of the eye). Symptoms of astigmatism are reduced vision while driving or reading and an increase in glare can also be noticed at night.
Many patients with astigmatism think they cannot wear contact lenses. The staff and physicians at Ocean Eye are well trained in fitting lenses for astigmatism and can explain all of your options with you. In cases where extremely high amounts of astigmatism exist, patients may have to consider gas-permeable (hard) contact lenses in order to obtain the best corrected vision.
