Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)

Amblyopia refers to reduced vision in one or both eyes that cannot be initially improved with glasses or contact lenses. Amblyopia can develop from a number of different conditions. Some of these contributing factors include:

  • Large prescription difference between the eyes
  • Congenital Cataracts (cataracts at birth)
  • Crossed Eyes (Strabismus)

Our pediatric vision clinic was developed with the mission of finding conditions such as amblyopia early enough that treatment could return vision back to 20/20. Treatment of amblyopia includes glasses, eye patching, or vision therapy (strengthening of the eye muscles that control eye movement or focusing).
